Dyslexia and handwriting support in Tonbridge Kent

Having had four children with Dyslexia and struggling to get them the support they needed, I trained as a Dyslexia tutor with Hornsby gaining the Hornsby SpLD diploma.

I particularly enjoy creating new ways for children with dyslexia to learn and use all sorts of games and strategies to help them overcome the frustrations that they often find in the classroom. I also make use of computer software and add-ons that children find helpful and which can support them as they do homework.

I am based in Tonbridge and teach from home. I have also provided teaching aids to to the Hong Kong Association for Specific Learning Disabilities .

Many children may need support for handwriting. I am also a  member of the National Handwriting Association and can provide tuition to children who need this support .  I use writing speed tests suitable for Y3 (age 7) onwards and have successfully used a kinaesthetic exercise based programme called "Speed Up" to improve both the look and/or speed of handwriting.  I also have a cursive writing programme to help children make the move from printing to cursive writing.

If you would like to make contact please send me an e-mail with phone and or e-mail contact details.

There are many sites on the internet offering advice about dyslexia or SpLD -Specific Learning Difficulties (dyslexia) as it is now being referred to. A word of warning though, while the information given may be sound, many sites are just offering a service, at a price. Any one of these solutions may or may not help you or your child as every child with dyslexia has their own unique combination of difficulties. Dyslexia is as individual as the person it affects!
